Florestan Berset (born 1995, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland) is a guitarist and composer. His musical career has included many diverse musical genres, however his central work is in improvised music and composition. He received his Master from the Hochschule Luzern which included study with Christy Doran, Kalle Kalima and Fred Frith. He has collaborated with Noël Akchoté, Pierre Favre, Gerry Hemingway, Norbert Pfammatter, John Voirol among others. In 2019 he received support from the Foundation Friedl Wald. In 2017 he released his first EP, Antomology with Noël Akchoté. Yakut’s Gallop, with MingBauSet (w/ Gerry Hemingway & Vera Baumann) was released in 2021 on the Polish label Fundacja Słuchaj and was rewarded the prestiguous support of the Selektive Förderung of Lucerne. He is developing a solo project, where he is exploring a wide array of sounds, colors, and forms without denying the long and celebrated tradition of his instrument.
