Ben Stapp is one of the most interesting musicians of the young generation of American improvisers. He is a classically educated tubist who studied under Tommy Johnson and Roger Bobo. Throughout his career he has played with such stars as Steven Bernstein, Nate Wooley, William Parker, Satoshi Takeishi, Tony Malaby, Tyshawn Sorey and Warren Smith. Now he is releasing his own album „MInd Creature Sound Dasein” in the publishing house of the Słuchaj Foundation.
He has won the prestigious Bob Stewart Tuba Competition, performed as a leader on several albums, is the author of the opera „Myrrha’s Red Book” and has given numerous concerts with such famous classical music bands as the Chelsea Symphony.
His latest album is a studio recording with Joe Morris, guitarist and double bass player, who is now regarded as one of the key figures in New York’s free improvised music and who is as successful as active concert musician as a professor at the legendary New England Conservatory. They are accompanied by another New York trumpeter legend, Stephen Haynes, a musician who does not often document his achievements on CDs.
