Dominik Dolega, born in 1979 in Cracow, studied under Jan Pilch at the Academy of Music in Cracow and under Christian Dierstein and Walter Fähendrich in Music Academy in Basel, Switzerland.
He has made numerous appearances in the leading concert halls in Europe and participated as a soloist and a chamber musician in prominent festivals in Poland and abroad: «Different Beat» Fritz Hauser, Ruhrtriennale Essen, Slapstick Festival in Bristol, Krakow 2000 Krzysztof Penderecki Festival and many others.
The artist works with leading Swiss and Polish orchestras, including Basler Sinfonieorchester, Basler Kammerorchester, Basel Sinfonietta, der Musical Theater Basel, the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Cracow, Freiburger Barockorchester. He develops his interest for contemporary music in co-operation with bands and ensembles „Ensemble Recherche“ Freiburg, „Collegium Novum“ Zürich, „Percussionsextett «Persephassa»“ and others.
Dominik Dolega’s regular co-operation with significant composers and musicians, incl. Gerry Hemingway, Mark Dresser, Fritz Hauser, Steven Schick, Mathias Steinauer, Hans Wüthrich, Alfred Zimmerlin, Christian Dierstein, Harald Kimming, Daniel Studer and Marcus Weiss brought a series of the joint projects and premieres.
In 2011/2012 the artist, together with Tom Lutz, composed the soundtrack for the play „There must be the way out of here“, presented on the Swiss and European stages.
Dominik Dolega’s compositions are a unique collage of sounds including elements of experimental and electroacoustic music, inspired by the contemporary classical music trends.
From many years Dominik Dolega has been co-operating as a teacher with Music Academy in Basel and music schools in the region. He co-organises the series of music performances with and for children „Gare des Enfants“ in Gare du Nord Basel and
is now developing his own programme „Klang-Kids“, presented in neuestheater.ch in Dornach.
In 2012 he joined „FronTTon“, music group combining free improvisation, contemporary music and modern jazz. In 2014 their CD „Alternating Flows“ received „honorable mention“ for new releases in The New York City Jazz Record.
In 2014 Dominik Dolega became a member of the board of the Förderverein für Steinklang-Musik, unique association promoting and developing stone instruments music. He organizes concerts, seminars and co-operates with cultural institutions.
As part of this project, he formed The Stone Orchestra and The Stone Trio, both giving succesful performances in Switzerland
