Jazz vibraphonist and composer. In 2018 he was recognized as the best vibraphonist in the Jazz Top survey according to the Jazz Forum magazine.
He graduated from the Music High School in Elbląg, and then began studying at the Gdańsk Academy of Music at the instrumental faculty.
In 1998 he moved to the Faculty of Jazz and Entertainment Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice, and in 2002 he graduated from it.
In 1999 he received an individual award and a distinction for his band Blue Mind Quartet in the Second National Review of Young Jazz and Blues Bands in Gdynia. In January 2002 the ensemble took first place in the prestigious Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa competition in Bielsko-Biała and received the statuette of the „Jazz Angel 2002”. The award of the competition was also the release of the band’s debut album.
Since 2003, every year it has been ranked second in the Jazz Top survey in the „Vibraphone of the Year” category. He was nominated for the GRAND Prix Jazz Melomani 2003 award in the category „Hope of Music lovers of the Year 2003” and „THE STORM of the Year 2005” by the Tri-City edition of Gazeta Wyborcza. He was also nominated by the Baltic Journal in the poll „Man of the Year 2005”.
His album Projektor was in the top ten of the best albums of 2005 according to Jazz Forum monthly, while the next Vice Versa was nominated for the Fryderyki award.
In 2011, the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship honored music with the „Pomeranian Artistic Award”.
In 2013, the album Kropla Słowa by Krystyna Stańko, to which Bukowski composed most of the music material, became the „Record of the Year” according to Jazz Forum.
As a sideman, he was awarded a Golden Record for his Melissa album by Przemek Dyakowski, produced by Leszek Możdżer.
His latest album „SUFIA” received very good reviews and was included in many rankings of the best jazz albums in Poland 2016.
He plays and records with such musicians as Amir ElSaffar, Tim Hagans, Cikada Quartet, Nigel Kennedy, Soweto Kinch, Janusz Muniak, Leszek Możdżer, Maciej Sikała, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Piotr Wojtasik, Krystyna Stańko and others.
He has performed at many Polish jazz festivals, as well as abroad, including Canada, Indonesia, Israel, Russia and most European countries.
